Solipsistic
Steps

Across this
Desert
Basin

I paradoxically
Arrive

On infinity’s
Other side

To find
My soul
Entombed

Under guard
And
Key

Leaving me
To wonder
On stoop
And
Stone

If my trials
Were simply
Faintest whispers

Spoken and
Heard by
Me
Alone?

And what
Exactly
Could be
Within?

Eternal Night
Wrapped in
Cloth and bone?

Or maybe

Another
Me

Waiting
To be free?

With no
Ministering angels
To descend

No answers
But
In things

I will beguile
One more
Night

And wait
To see

What morning
Brings
